The historic village of Felsted was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. To this day, Roman roads link the picturesque village to nearby towns such as Braintree, Great Dunmow and Chelmsford.

Felsted School, founded in 1564 includes Oliver Cromwell’s son as a past pupil. Located in the centre of the village, this highly acclaimed public school has witnessed historical events that have shaped the village over the last 450 years.

A Norman tower dating from 1120 forms part of the local parish church reflecting the heritage of Felsted and its green surroundings. Felsted lays claim to the first East Anglian vineyard of the 20th century.

Just 11 miles to the south of Felsted, the county town of Chelmsford offers a variety of leisure pursuits combined with superb shopping facilities and a thriving business community.

Braintree, 6 miles to the east, also offers a host of quality restaurants, pubs and leisure activities. Great Dunmow, 5 miles to the west of the village, includes a multipurpose sports centre in addition to other local amenities.

Felsted’s excellent location takes advantage of all these modern facilities whilst retaining its traditional, rural village character.
